Basketball Game Preview: North Central Texas Academy Pioneers vs. May Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers will get right back to it and host the May Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Central Texas Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully May likes a good challenge.

On Friday, North Central Texas Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Bishop Lynch. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Friars, sneaking past 56-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since November 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, May had already won 21 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 22 on Tuesday. They breezed by the Wildcats to the tune of 61-20. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 matches by 20 points or more this season.

May pushed their record up to 23-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.1 points per game. As for North Central Texas Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 23-7.

Everything came up roses for North Central Texas Academy against May in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, as the squad secured a 69-24 win. Does North Central Texas Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will May turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
