Toledo Christian will head out to face off against Eastwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Toledo Christian's win against Northwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles skirted past the Rangers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 20, 2024.

Tyler Grace was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Toledo Christian is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Bryson Quinn was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Connor Egbert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Eastwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Oak Harbor 9-8. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Like Toledo Christian, Eastwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Drew Kachmarik. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Kachmarik has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Eastwood let Paul Lautzenheiser and Colton Woodward run wild. Lautzenheiser went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Woodward went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Cam Schumaker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Toledo Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Eastwood, their record is now 7-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Toledo Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Toledo Christian took their win against Eastwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Toledo Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
