Basketball Recap: Mathews Comes Up Short

Mathews lost against Northumberland back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mathews Blue Devils took a 74-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northumberland Indians. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), the Blue Devils still had to take the loss.

Mathews' loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Northumberland, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Mathews will welcome King & Queen Central at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northumberland, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Colonial Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colonial Beach will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Northumberland surely won't give up without a fight.
