Richland is a perfect 7-0 against Ryan since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Royals are taking a road trip to challenge the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Richland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Richland took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Denton as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Royals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Stacy Jennings made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Jennings was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Richland let Mia Berain and Chauncey Guerrero run wild. Berain scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5, while Guerrero scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Berain has posted since back in February. Alyssa Flores also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Richland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Ryan was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to Birdville. The Raiders have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Richland, their record now sits at 12-7-2.
Richland's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Royals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Ryan, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Richland continue to outrun the ball?
Richland took their victory against Ryan in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
