Football Recap: Mountain Valley Falcons vs. Dirigo Cougars

If Mountain Valley was riding high fresh off their 42-6 takedown of Maranacook last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain Valley Falcons came up short against the Dirigo Cougars on Friday, falling 43-22. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.

Although Mountain Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Bradley Sirois, Tyler Warren, and Warren.

Mountain Valley's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Rilan Farnum, Sirois, and Sirois picked up one apiece.

Hudson Lufkin went supernova for Dirigo, rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Lufkin's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season. Nathaniel Wainwright was Lufkin's top target, rushing for 22 yards and a touchdown, while also catching a touchdown.

Mountain Valley now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Dirigo, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Valley will welcome Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wells will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mountain Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dirigo, they will square off against Madison/Carrabec/Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
