Baseball Recap: Red Level Drops Season-High Score on Pleasant Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Red Level). They blew past the Pleasant Home Eagles 20-4 on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 13 runs or more this season.

Connor Blackwell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Red Level is undefeated when Blackwell posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Buddy Griffin, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Grayson Hodges, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Red Level always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Red Level and bumps their season record up to 4-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.75 in the others. As for Pleasant Home, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Red Level will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pleasant Home: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
