Tse' Yi' Gai's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aiyana Trujillo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Tayler Begay was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Tse' Yi' Gai smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Cottonwood Classical Prep scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Navajo Pine. The Coyotes' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Cottonwood Classical Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Tse' Yi' Gai, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Tse' Yi' Gai didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cottonwood Classical Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-39 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cottonwood Classical Prep's Ryah Carlson, who went 11 of 14 on her way to 28 points and three steals.
