Softball Recap: Woodgrove's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Woodgrove can now relate to. They fell just short of the Tuscarora Huskies by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Wolverines were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Huskies' pitcher proved too tough.

Virginia Dowell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Addie McCullers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

Woodgrove's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Tuscarora, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Woodgrove nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
