Softball Recap: Williamson Comes Up Short

After flying high against Canton on Monday, Williamson came back down to earth. The Warriors fell just short of the Towanda Black Knights by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since April 14, 2024.

Kenna Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Williamson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Sprague, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Williamson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Towanda, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Williamson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-4 win against Wellsboro on the 12th. As for Towanda, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-0 loss against Hughesville on the 10th.
