Abilene can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Collegiate Spartans 2-1.
Abilene had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 25-17.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Ternes, who had nine digs, four kills, and ten assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Vess, who had 17 digs.
Abilene's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9. As for Collegiate, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
