Preview: Lake Highlands Wildcats vs. Lake Travis Cavaliers
Lake Highlands has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Lake Highlands Wildcats and the Lake Travis Cavaliers will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Two weeks ago, Lake Highlands earned a 74-66 win over Berkner. Given Lake Highlands' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Berkner is ranked 792nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Travis has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Dripping Springs 68-41 at home. Winning may never get old, but Lake Travis sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Hudson Greer was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lake Travis' points. Ethan Birchall was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Lake Highlands' win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Lake Travis, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Lake Highlands might still be hurting after the 70-46 defeat they got from Lake Travis in their previous matchup on December 2nd. Can Lake Highlands avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
