It was a good run, but Veterans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 61-46 fall against the Houston County Bears. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Bears are ranked 34th).

Several Warhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaivyon Dawson, who posted six points. Another player making a difference was Jaleel Basley, who had eight points.

Houston County was led to victory by Malik Gillespie and Kam Plummer. Gillespie went 8 for 10 en route to 19 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Plummer went 8 of 11 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Gillespie has posted since back in November of 2024. Braylin Mills was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points and six boards.

Veterans' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Houston County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Veterans wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 78-63 win against Coffee on the 28th. Houston County has also already played their next game, a 64-61 loss against Lee County on the 28th.
