Football Recap: Centralia Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cahokia, Centralia was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 48-44 W over the Mt. Vernon Rams. Things were looking grim for the Orphans in the second quarter (they were down by 24) but they stormed back to get the game.

Centralia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.6 points over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centralia will host Effingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tolono Unity at 7:00 p.m.
