Baseball Game Preview: Central Wildcats vs. Etowah Blue Devils

Central is 0-3 against Etowah since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will challenge the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Central sitting on six straight wins and Etowah on seven.

Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Cordova as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Etowah's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand New Hope a 10-0 shutout.

Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Etowah, their win bumped their record up to 23-12.

Central couldn't quite finish off Etowah in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 7-5. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
