Softball Recap: Lowell Beats Kankakee Valley for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Lowell entered their tilt with Kankakee Valley on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Kougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Devils have posted since April 17th.

Olivia Fuentes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Preslee Hill and Peyton Lonardi did most of the damage at the plate: Hill went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Lonardi went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Lowell's record now sits at 8-4. As for Kankakee Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5.
