The Franklin Pierce Cardinals will square off against the Spanaway Lake Sentinels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Franklin Pierce has four straight victories, Spanaway Lake has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Franklin Pierce's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Steilacoom. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by nine runs or more this season.

Leila Kennach made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Kennach was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game.
In other batting news, Kiley Sledge was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallie Sullivan, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Franklin Pierce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steilacoom only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Spanaway Lake lost 17-1 to Rogers on Thursday.
Franklin Pierce's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Spanaway Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Franklin Pierce took their win against Spanaway Lake when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-4 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Sentinels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
