Basketball Game Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Hammond Morton Governors

The Thornton Wildcats and the Hammond Morton Governors will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday without much rest having both just played.

Thornton's tournament run continued when they took on Thornton Fractional South on Saturday. Thornton was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Thornton Fractional South.

Despite the defeat, Thornton had strong showings from Jeremy Blanco-Rios, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Deandre Higgs, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Greg Fourte, who had four points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hammond Morton). They snuck past Thornwood with a 65-61 win on Saturday.

Hammond Morton's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Thornton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
