Volleyball Recap: Jefferson Wildcats vs. Van Wert Cougars
Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Van Wert Cougars, falling 3-0. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While Jefferson had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.
Kate Brinkman paced Jefferson's offense, picking up ten kills. Brinkman got some help from Alissa Gallmeier and her 20 assists. Kailynn Halker controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Brissia Ickes had a dynamite game For Van Wert., getting 14 digs and three aces. Those 14 digs gave Ickes a new career-high. Jazzlyn Florence also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Van Wert, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-16.
Coming up, Jefferson will challenge Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Van Wert, they will take on Ottawa-Glandorf at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
