Baseball Recap: Carterville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Massac County

There's no place like home for Carterville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Massac County Patriots on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Patriots two weeks ago, they had to take a 8-4 loss.

Carterville got a massive performance out of Drake Capie, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Capie a new career-high. Alex Lyell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Carterville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Massac County only posted a batting average of .269.

Carterville's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Massac County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-2 record.

Looking ahead, Carterville will venture away from home to face off against Murphysboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Massac County, they will host Crab Orchard at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
