Winning always takes teamwork, but on Wednesday Weston Thornbury stepped things up a notch to give Carlsbad the 'W'. Thornbury wasn't messing around, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The pitching appearance was his fifth straight with two or fewer walks.

Thornbury's strong effort led Carlsbad over Rancho Bernardo and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are at an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long.
