Preview: Towanda Black Knights vs. Wyalusing Valley Rams
Towanda has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Wyalusing Valley Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Towanda can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tunkhannock 55-7 at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Towanda had established a 35 point advantage.
It was another big night for Rylie Vanderpool, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 105 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes. Tahshon Garner was in the mix as well, providing Towanda with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Towanda's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Edan Flynn and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Wyalusing Valley put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against North Penn-Mansfield as Wyalusing Valley made off with a 37-16 win. The win was just what Wyalusing Valley needed coming off of a 41-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Their wins bumped Towanda to 6-3 and Wyalusing Valley to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Towanda against Wyalusing Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Towanda since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
