Basketball Recap: Eagle River Comes Up Short

Eagle River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 68-26 loss at the hands of the West Anchorage Eagles. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-11.

When it comes to explaining why Eagle River lost, don't look at Gabby Palazzini. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 boards. That was a full 65.4% of Eagle River's points, marking the seventh time in a row Palazzini has posted more than a third of the team's points. Alysia Reyna also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Eagle River's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for West Anchorage, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Eagle River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 30-28 defeat against South Anchorage on the 21st. As for West Anchorage, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-47 loss against Dimond on the 21st.
