Baseball Recap: Wolfe County Gets the Win

The Wolfe County Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the DeSales Colts on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Kris Evans made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Evans was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.

Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon McWhorter, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Wolfe County's record is now 7-2. As for DeSales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.

Wolfe County will head out to square off against Knott County Central at 6:30 p.m. on April 8. As for DeSales, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Chicago Christian at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (DeSales 3.2, Chicago Christian 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
