Game recap: Amity Regional High School Football Team defeats Fairfield Prep

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, Conn.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 5 in Connecticut, but was stunned by Amity Regional (Woodbridge, Conn.), 24-21. Amity Regional was ranked at No. 42 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Connecticut coming into the week.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by John Moten, the Jesuits went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. The Spartans scored the winning points with a Tyler Burns touchdown pass to Cory Ricks that came in the fourth quarter.

Amity Regional didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Burns thew a touchdown to Ricks.

Ricks stood out for AR in the win. The junior caught one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.

Moten made a difference for Fairfield Prep. The sophomore running back ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to 10 on the year.



The Woodbridge school got revenge for last year's 39-32 loss to FP with the victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Fairfield Prep, which notched a 27-20 victory over Hamden in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for the Spartans, which lost to Xavier last week, 52-17. The loss snapped the Fairfield school's 3-game winning streak.

Fairfield Prep (5-2) goes up against Branford in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Amity Regional (3-4) locks horns with Hamden in a Southern Connecticut Division I - West game.
