Preview: Springfield Senators vs. Rochester Rockets
Springfield is 8-2 against Rochester since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Springfield Senators will head out on the road to take on the Rochester Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Springfield is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Last Monday, Springfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to New Berlin. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while New Berlin is ranked 161st).
Meanwhile, Rochester earned a 59-51 win over Decatur Eisenhower on Friday.
Rochester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Henry Buecker led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Eli Cox was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Rochester, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
Springfield beat Rochester 58-48 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does Rochester have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
