Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge Bobcats vs. Bellaire Big Reds

The Cambridge Bobcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Bellaire Big Reds at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cambridge will head out to face Bellaire after giving up their first home loss of the season on Monday. Cambridge fell 63-55 to St. Clairsville.

Meanwhile, Bellaire hadn't done well against Shadyside recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Bellaire simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Shadyside 76-40. The contest marked the Big Reds' most dominant victory of the season.

Cambridge better focus on containing Raekwon Pettigrew and Caleb Jewell as the pair were huge in Bellaire's win. Pettigrew went 13 of 23 en route to 32 points along with six boards and four steals, while Jewell went 8 of 19 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. The match was Pettigrew's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles (Trey) Dunn, who posted seven points.

Bellaire was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

With the win, Bellaire broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7. As for Cambridge, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Cambridge took their victory against Bellaire in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 66-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cambridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
