Football Game Preview: St. Peter's Prep Marauders vs. DePaul Catholic Spartans

After each having a week off, the St. Peter's Prep Marauders and the DePaul Catholic Spartans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Peter's Prep is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

St. Peter's Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Jersey's top teams: Seton Hall Prep, who was ranked 24th at the time (St. Peter's Prep was ranked third). The Marauders really took it to the Pirates for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-3 victory. The Marauders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 27 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Tyler Bell, who threw for 198 yards and four TDs. What's more, he racked up 29 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something St. Peter's Prep proved: they limited Seton Hall Prep to a paltry 0.4 yards per carry. The Marauders didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, DePaul Catholic's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They took a blow against Don Bosco Prep, falling 47-15. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

St. Peter's Prep will have to contain Derek Zammit as he made an impact in DePaul Catholic's last game. He rushed for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 117 yards on 14 of 26 attempts.

DePaul Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for St. Peter's Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
