Baseball Recap: Jacksonville Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against J.H. Rose, Jacksonville was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Croatan Cougars 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Cougars back in March, they had to take a 6-2 loss.

Kaiden Cox was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Jacksonville is undefeated when Cox posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Vasco Sutton was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Jacksonville's record now sits at 5-8. As for Croatan, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will face off against Havelock at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Croatan, they will square off against Swansboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
