Basketball Recap: Antelope Valley Comes Up Short

Antelope Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 49-42 to the Eastside Lions. While losing is never fun, the Antelopes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1061st, while the Lions are ranked 529th).

Despite the loss, Antelope Valley still got an impressive performance from Deshawn Lewis, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Esceryn Archie, who earned seven points.

Eastside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tykeam McQueen out in front who had 14 points and three steals. Kenneth Harris was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Antelope Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Eastside, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-10.

Antelope Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-56 defeat against Palmdale on the 27th. Eastside has also already played their next contest, a 55-46 loss against Highland on the 27th.
