Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Century Knights
Liberty and Century are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Liberty Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Century Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Liberty's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
Liberty pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Urbana 61-57. The match was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Liberty was outscored by Urbana in the second.
Meanwhile, Century was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 58-53 to Westminster. It was the first time this season that Century let down their fans at home.
Liberty bumped their record down to 7-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 3.33 points. As for Century, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.
Liberty strolled past Century when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a score of 73-56. Will Liberty repeat their success, or does Century have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
