North Platte is a perfect 3-0 against Benson since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Bunnies. North Platte is looking for their season's first win.

North Platte is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Columbus on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Discoverers 42-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Discoverers since September 6, 2019.

Meanwhile, Benson lost 47-24 to Lincoln High on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bunnies in their meetings with the Links: they've now lost four in a row.

North Platte will need to focus on slowing down D'Onta Settles-Shelly, one of several Benson players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 65 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 98 yards and one touchdown. Settles-Shelly really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. Trey Peterson also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Benson now has a losing record of 2-3. As for North Platte, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for North Platte against Benson when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
