Baseball Recap: Harpeth Drops Season-High Score on Cheatham County Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harpeth). They came out on top against the Cheatham County Central Cubs by a score of 12-7 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the game before.

Hudson Clark made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Charlie Wilson and Chance Ford did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Ford scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three RBI gave Wilson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Higgs, who went 1-for-5 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Harpeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Harpeth is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cheatham County Central, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Harpeth will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cubs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
