Baseball Recap: Canyon Takes a Loss

After flying high against Crean Lutheran last Saturday, Canyon came back down to earth. The Canyon Comanches fell just short of the Woodrow Wilson Bruins by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Comanches were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Cooper Stevenson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February of 2024.

Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Woodrow Wilson, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon will host La Habra at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Canyon 3.8, La Habra 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakewood at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
