Volleyball Recap: Raton Tigers vs. Tucumcari Rattlers
After flying high against Pecos last Thursday, Raton came back down to earth. The Raton Tigers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tucumcari Rattlers on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Rattlers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Raton was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Tucumcari work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 17-25, 26-24.
Jennifer Mattorano paced Raton's offense, picking up 14 kills. Mattorano got some help from
Addison Medina and her 28 assists. Finally,
Paige Lemons kept Raton's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.
Nevaeh Montoya was the offensive standout of the game as she had 18 digs. Aliyah Marez was another key player, getting ten digs.
Raton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Tucumcari, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
