Softball Recap: Purvis Takes Down Ranked Oak Grove

On Thursday, Purvis faced Oak Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Purvis Tornadoes' pitchers stepped up to hand the Oak Grove Warriors a 4-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Tornadoes sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Chelsea Regan - 2025 was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Regan - 2025 was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Regan - 2025 wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mabrey Barrett - 2027, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Purvis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Purvis' record now sits at 10-5. As for Oak Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purvis will venture away from home to face off against Picayune at 6:30 p.m. on March 21st. As for Oak Grove, they will head out to take on Pearl at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
