Baseball Game Preview: Rocklin Thunder vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Rocklin will face off against Del Oro. Rocklin will head out to challenge Del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocklin is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Last Tuesday, Rocklin earned a 6-2 victory over Del Oro.

Troy Ueltzen looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Rocklin let Roman Castellanos and Dylan Nusz run wild. Castellanos scored a run and stole two bases, while Nusz scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Castellanos also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Ahren Verma was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Rocklin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Oro struck out 11 times.

Rocklin pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Del Oro, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rocklin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Del Oro struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts.
