St. Mary posted their closest win since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Mesquite Wildcats 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Wildcats last Tuesday, they had to take a 15-13 loss.

Camilla Marquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Ava Sierras was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Izzy Nunez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

St. Mary's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 10-11. As for Mesquite, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, St. Mary's is taking a road trip to take on Cactus Shadows at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Mesquite, they will host Campo Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
