Softball Recap: Warrior Run Triumphs

Warrior Run took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Williamsport, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Defenders won by a run and slipped past the Mountaineers 4-3. This was payback for the Defenders, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

MacKenzie Heyler spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maura Woland, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory got Warrior Run back to even at 3-3. As for South Williamsport, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Warrior Run will challenge Montoursville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Williamsport, they will face off against Upper Dauphin Area at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
