After losing to Lovington the last time they met, Goddard decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Goddard Rockets walked away with a 59-49 win over the Lovington Wildcats on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.

Ezekiel Burrola went supernova for Goddard, going 7 of 11 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Eli Barncastle, who posted 12 points.

Despite the loss, Lovington still got an impressive performance from Kayle Covington, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Covington has become a key player for Lovington: the team is 12-6 when he posts at least eight boards, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mika Pando, who had eight points and five steals.

Goddard's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Lovington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Goddard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-48 loss against Artesia on the 7th. As for Lovington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-46 win against Portales on the 7th.
