Baseball Game Preview: St. Benedict at Auburndale Eagles vs. Lausanne Collegiate Lynx

St. Benedict at Auburndale is 0-4 against Lausanne Collegiate since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Lynx at 6:00 p.m.

St. Benedict at Auburndale fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Germantown on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 9-7. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it nine in a row.

Kyle Silvestro was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Silvestro was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carson Twigg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Lausanne Collegiate hadn't done well against Northpoint Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lynx won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 5-4.

Lausanne Collegiate's victory bumped their record up to 19-10. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

St. Benedict at Auburndale might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Lausanne Collegiate in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
