Football Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence fell victim to Paradise Honors and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Panthers 39-0. The defeat leaves the Patriots still looking for their first win of the season.

It was another big night for Chuck Van Dyke, who rushed for 208 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.7 yards per carry for Paradise Honors. Another player making a difference was Robert Casas, who threw for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Paradise Honors, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Independence and Paradise Honors will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Patriots will face off against rival Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Paradise Honors is set to challenge their familiar foe ALA - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
