Volleyball Recap: Meyer Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Meyer took on Rio Vista on Friday. The Ravens lost 3-0 to the Eagles. If the Ravens were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-14.

Skylar Hicks paced Meyer's offense, picking up four kills. Hicks got some help from Neveah Valencia and her five assists. Sheana Mace controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Rio Vista found their leader in sophomore Kyndal Cooley, who had six digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Cooley.

Meyer has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Rio Vista, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Meyer will be playing in front of their home fans against Marlin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rio Vista, they will venture away from home to take on Robinson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
