Baseball Recap: Somerset Comes Up Short

Somerset fell victim to Ryle and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. The Briar Jumpers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

John Henderson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Somerset saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Stevens, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Somerset's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Ryle, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-9.

Somerset wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-6 loss against Bullitt East on the 25th. Ryle has also already played their next matchup (against Lexington Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
