Baseball Game Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. Lovejoy Leopards

Denison hasn't had much luck against Lovejoy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Denison Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to challenge the Lovejoy Leopards at 7:30 p.m. Denison has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Denison is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 20-7 to Lovejoy.

For Lovejoy's part, Garrett Hutchins was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those two home runs gave Hutchins a new career-high. Reed Blakely was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lovejoy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lovejoy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. Denison's loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
