Softball Game Preview: Bellevue Redmen vs. Genoa Area Comets

The Bellevue Redmen will challenge the Genoa Area Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Friday, Bellevue was able to grind out a solid win over Norwalk, taking the game 14-11.

Mallory Hay made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Payton Hicks was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Chloe Easterwood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Bellevue was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Genoa Area fell victim to Eastwood and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Eagles. The Comets' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Bellevue is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Genoa Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Genoa Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bellevue has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Genoa Area, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Bellevue's sizable advantage in that area, the Comets will need to find a way to close that gap.
