Soccer Recap: Wayne County Comes Up Short

Wayne County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Loretto Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wayne County of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Wayne County's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Loretto, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne County will challenge Richland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Loretto, they will venture away from home to square off against Culleoka at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Loretto will be up against Culleoka's rather soft defense (which has allowed 6.17 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
