Yale dropped their record down to 15-9 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Marine City Mariners by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Marine City, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Marine City's part, the result came thanks to Danny Vandevyver's shutout, as he gave up just eight hits and racked up six Ks. Vandevyver has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marine City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Muscat, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

While Yale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
