Basketball Recap: Rocksprings Triumphs

On Tuesday, the Rocksprings Angoras escaped with a win against the Utopia Buffaloes by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42.

Alektra Hernandez was the offensive standout of the match as she posted 20 points. Katie Riojas was another key player, putting up 11 points.

When it comes to explaining why Utopia lost, don't look at Kinsley Cox. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Utopia's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Wiekamp, who earned four points and five boards.

Rocksprings' win bumped their record up to 8-16-1. As for Utopia, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12-1.

Rocksprings will venture away from home to take on Comstock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocksprings is facing Comstock at the right time seeing as Comstock is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. Utopia has already played their next game (against Leakey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
