Payson won the last time they faced Hurricane and Emmy Hales did her part to make sure it happened again. The Lions took down the Tigers 53-38 on Thursday thanks in part to Hales, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 23 boards. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 47.2% shooting accuracy.

Despite the loss, Hurricane had strong showings from Kinsley Yardley, who posted 16 points, and Laynee Walker, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. McKi Slack also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The victory snapped Payson's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Hurricane, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-38 defeat against Cedar on the 12th. As for Hurricane, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-28 win against Hillcrest on the 12th.
