If Hurricane wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Payson, they should've done a better job of containing Emmy Hales. The Lions enjoyed a cozy 53-38 win over the Tigers on Thursday with plenty of help from Hales, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 23 rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Payson's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when she doesn't).

The victory snapped Payson's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Hurricane, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Payson and Cedar will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Lions will be up against the Reds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hurricane, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hillcrest at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
